Corvette Flag Emblem

Since the unveiling of the original roadster at the 1953 GM Motorama show in New York, the Corvette emblem has changed periodically to reflect the mechanical and styling refinements of the car itself.

In 1962 the most noticeable visual change was in the design of the side cove area. Previously, the cove was outlined in chrome. but in 1962, it was simply outlined by a lip which is part of the molded fiberglass fender and door shapes. With the removal of the chrome outline, coves were no longer available in colors contrasting the body color. 1962 was the last year model to offer exposed headlights, a solid rear axle, an external trunk opening, and a power top availability. To reflect these changes the hood emblem was revised. The crossed flags were raised off the hood by a thin circle, and the "V" was removed from the badge.
