1983 Highlights

Petty's win in the Warner W. Hodgdon Carolina 500 at Rockingham ended a 43 race slump. A few weeks later in the Winston 500 at Talladega, King Richard sped to victory just two car lengths ahead of Benny Parsons. Petty captured his third win of the season in race #27 at Charlotte, bringing his career total to 198 wins. Richard hit the $5 million career winnings mark in 1983.
